4/3 Weekly Update

A bit of a quiet week mostly due to IRL issues, but still made some solid progress! Mostly Sarah and Celica content, though I'm admittedly a little worried that the Celica thing might feel too emo, will see how it goes over in the next beta.

The artist I use for monster characters is finally free again so I can get the deepwoods finale boss, which was the last thing I needed to be able to work on that - gonna try to get it into this update!

Rosalyn CG is almost done as well, blue and purple and white lmoa and looking GREAT.

Also getting another batch of icons Soon(tm), to try to continue making the game look better.

Don't be afraid to take a small break now and then, it always blows my mind the amount of work you put into this and the frequency and size of every update.

Really wish this game got some more recognition because you seriously deserve it, but guess that comes with this genre it's definitely more niche. If you do manage to be approved by Steam that will hopefully bring in a larger audience!

Thanks, homie. I really do appreciate the concern. I don't want to turn into the kind of dev that makes excuses for 2 years between each shitty update, you know? I'm naturally a lazy person, if I can't maintain the discipline to do regular updates I'll end up gaming or modding other games, and that isn't fair to the people who support me or enjoy the game.

I am trying to get a little better about taking *some* breaks, but this year has been a trainwreck of getting sick and IRL issues, so I always feel like I gotta work more to make up for it.

And yeah, I really hope Steam helps. Being able to make a living, even if it's not crazy successful, would be fantastic. Much easier to work on the game without stressing it, or my future, as much in that scenario. Definitely haven't been making anything close to enough to live on, so the future is still concerning.

Already got approved for steam, launch in about 2 weeks, so we'll see how things go then!

Don't know if you have a schedule set or just work when inspiration strikes but definitely just force yourself to set an hour aside each day just to chill or go to a Starbucks or something just a brain break essentially. Have seen too many creators burn out lately, at least your game isn't lacking but do take care of yourself as well!

It's mostly just 'whatever free time I have,' waiting for inspiration is a surefire way to never accomplish anything as a writer. I learned that the hard way, took me way too many years to figure it out while writing casually. Motivation is the enemy, not an ally.

Anyways, unsolicited life advice aside; thank you for caring! As a dev it sure feels like not many people do lol. I have friends yelling at me to take breaks so I'm trying to find a good balance, this Steam release definitely adds a lot of stress to keep going though.

I again wish you the best of luck, your work is definitely one of the more unique on here and it's easy to tell how much passion you put into it.

Thanks man! I'll keep at it!

So, can we hope for a Steam EA release by April 20?

That is the current plan yes! I'm probably going to try to time 0.25 to release on all platforms on the 20th so no one gets left behind.
